In this insightful book of essays inspired by his award-winning book, Macon Black & White: An Unutterable Separation in the American Century, Andrew M. Andrew M. Manis is emeritus professor of History at Middle Georgia State University. An ordained Baptist minister with a PhD from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, he is the award-winning author of Southern Civil Religions in Conflict, A Fire You Can't Put Out, and Macon Black and White. Sandy Dwayne Martin is professor of Religion at the University of Georgia. An ordained minister and associate pastor of East Friendship Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia, he holds a PhD from Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University. He is the author of Black Baptists and African Missions and For God and Race, and numerous articles regarding African American and American religious history.
