East Rochester is a district of the city of Rochester, New Hampshire, located on the banks of the Salmon Falls River, which separates Maine from New Hampshire. Home to approximately 5,000 residents, it is located 3 miles east of Rochester proper, and is one of two villages within city limits. The area was a farming community which developed into a small textile and shoe manufacturing mill town during the Industrial Revolution. Using water power from the Salmon Falls River, two mills began operation.
