Overview"The party continues but the problems get bigger in this second installment of this original Dungeons & Dragons graphic novel series brought to you by New York Times bestselling author Molly Knox Ostertag and critically acclaimed illustrator Xanthe Bouma. Olivia loves being the Dungeon Master of her after-school club, creating a world with magic and epic battles with adventure around every corner. She's always felt at home in her game, but now--with new members and new plotlines--her world has gotten more complicated than ever. It doesn't help when Olivia's older sister, Lu, comes home from college and brushes off all Olivia's hard work, telling her to get real. A seed of doubt is planted, and suddenly the colorful world of her game starts to fade around her. Will Olivia be able to keep everything from changing, or will the party fall apart? Praise for Dungeons & Dragons: Dungeon Club: Roll Call ""An absolutely wonderful story that exemplifies the joys, challenges, and lifelong memories forged between friends in the creative furnace of roleplaying games. The vibrant, energetic art further elevates the beautiful dichotomy between epic, fantasy adventures and finding one's place in those awkward teenage years. I couldn't help but see much of myself and my own youth in parts of each character as they find their companions in real life through their imaginary adventures, and the sense of unparalleled bonding one finds within a good game group resonates deeply throughout this story. I absolutely loved it."" --Matthew Mercer, creator of Critical Role ""The power D&D has to help you explore and express yourself is on full display in this lovely story of friendship and growing up."""" --Kat Leyh, author of Snapdragon ""Perfectly captures the magic when the world you create with your friends becomes as real as the world around you."" --Tim Probert, author of the Lightfall series ""A thrilling and gorgeous adventure that goes straight for your heart."" --ND Stevenson, New York Times bestselling author of Nimona ""What Molly Ostertag and Xanthe Bouma pull off in Dungeon Club is nothing short of astounding. Contained within these magical pages are not one but two amazing stories: fantasy and reality woven masterfully together by Ostertag's spellbinding storytelling. An adventure filled with fun, magic, and deep insight into the trials and tribulations of High School, Dungeon Club is what we in the D&D world would call a 'Critical Hit'! To everyone who knows that there's always adventure and a little bit of magic just around the corner, this book will be a treasured artifact for years and years to come!"" --Brennan Lee Mulligan, creator of Dimension 20 ""Scoring high on charisma, this tale of personal growth is bound to win many a curious young fan over to D&D's allure."" --Kirkus Reviews ""Middle grade readers intrigued by the cult classic RPG and fans fond of popular campaigns like Adventure Zone and Critical Role will enjoy the message of this series opener: 'Monsters are easier to fight when you've got people by your side.'"" --ALA Booklist (starred review) ""For readers who are fans of or are curious about role-playing games, or those seeking heartwarming stories about friendship and imagination."" --School Library Journal" Full Product DetailsAuthor: Molly Knox Ostertag , Adriana Santos , Patricia Santomasso , Katie Anvil RichPublisher: HarperCollins Imprint: HarperCollins Volume: 2 Dimensions: Width: 14.70cm , Height: 1.50cm , Length: 14.20cm Weight: 0.200kg ISBN: 9798874621988Publication Date: 09 July 2024 Recommended Age: From 8 to 12 years Audience: Children/juvenile , Children / Juvenile Format: Audio Publisher's Status: Active Availability: Not yet available This item is yet to be released. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor Information"Molly Knox Ostertag is the author of Dungeons and Dragons: Dungeon Club: Roll Call and numerous other graphic novels. Molly Knox Ostertag is an Ignatz and Prism Award-winning graphic novelist, a 30 Under 30 Forbes scholar, and a writer for children's TV animation. Her middle grade graphic novel debut, The Witch Boy, came out in 2017 and is being adapted into a feature film by Netflix. It's followed by the sequel The Hidden Witch in 2018 and New York Times bestseller The Midwinter Witch in 2019. Her latest book, The Girl from the Sea, debuted as a #1 YA bestseller. Patricia Santomasso has always been an avid reader and storyteller. Her love of literature led her to earn a BA in English, and shortly afterward she moved from Connecticut to New York to study theater. She worked for years on stages around the country doing mostly classical plays and Shakespeare. It was there she met her husband, narrator Sean Patrick Hopkins, doing a production of As You Like It. Now she has merged her love of acting and the written word and happily reads stories out loud from the comfort of a booth. To date she has recorded over 150 audiobooks. Patricia's youthful voice and comic timing give heroines a warm relatability, and her surprising dips into baritone make her male characters engaging and believable. Paste Magazine has called her narration style ""warm-but-tart,"" which she agrees is a fitting description. Patricia and Sean have a sweet baby daughter, Lyra Roisin, who isn't much interested in hearing either one of them read to her. Katie Anvil Rich is an experienced audiobook narrator who grew up in the Bay Area. She earned an MFA in acting from Harvard University while also training concurrently at the Moscow Art Theatre School. Since graduating, she has moved to L.A., where she works on television and stage projects as well as writing and directing. Andr Santana is a NYC-based audiobook narrator on a journey to tell great stories. He's a Black, Latine, and nonbinary voice actor delivering intentional and human performances. Operating with a keen sense for realistic delivery, he inevitably becomes a fan of every book he narrates and shares that joy through his performances. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sol Madariaga is a trilingual actress with a BFA in musical theater and training in Shakespeare text. Initially a member of Buenos Aires' Colon Theatre Opera House Ensemble, Sol's Argentine roots take influence in her widely versatile acting background, ranging from a Shakespeare and Chekovian/Stanislavski training, to her flamenco/tango dancing skills, to her most recent film and television work in NYC. Tara Sands is an American actress, television host, and voice talent who has won numerous AudioFile Earphones Awards for narration. She is former cohost of Fridays on the Cartoon Network. In addition to performing in plays and musicals, her voice can be heard on numerous commercials, audiobooks, cartoons, and video games. Christopher Salazar, originally from Miami, Florida, is classically trained with an MFA from the Old Globe. He has worked with top theater companies in New York, Los Angeles, and regionally throughout the country." Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
