Author Information

Mary Ellen Roach Higgins taught high school home economics and later moved on to instruct environment, textiles and design at the University of Madison-Wisconsins School of Home Economics. She researched the function of clothing as a non-verbal means of communication and has written several books on the topic. She continues her work in the field of dress and sociology and presents her work at presentations and seminars. Joanne B. Eicher is a regents' professor at the University of Minnesota. She is a member of several honour societies, including Tau Sigma (Science and Arts) and Gamma Sigma Delta (Agriculture). She has conducted research worldwide, throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East and many other locations. Kim K.P. Johnson is a chairperson and professor in the College of Human Ecology at the University of Minnesota. She teaches design, housing and apparel, and her research interests include retail, social psychology of dress and consumer behavior.
