Overview

"Robert's surgery to remove a brain tumor in 2018 led him to want to share his eclectic work experiences and turn his adventures and observations into something that could provide not only the observations, but a unique leadership ""playbook"" or ""roadmap"" for people facing similar situations in business. The book focuses on five sections: Leading, Not Managing, Human Resources Tips (that HR may not approve of), Improving the ""Work"" in the ""Work"" place, bringing on the ""dynamite"" to remove work obstacles and rising more rapidly in your organization. Each section concludes with a series of actions you can take to build your own playbook in business in challenging times. This true to life account will teach practical leadership lessons through observations and unorthodox stories and tips that include: How a deadly brain tumor resulted in ""superpowers"". How Robert managed his first ""official"" project because his boss was arrested and pulled off an airplane by the police. Developing a checklist to remove tasks that are deemed S.T.U.P.I.D in the workplace. How Robert recovered from ""the worst conference call in history"". And a very curious goat named Ricky."

I'm confident his real-life experiences in this book will help others do the same in their organizations. -Mark J. Braun, Executive Director, Board of Regents, State of Iowa Robert and I worked together developing and giving seminars to franchisees to help them drive their business to the next level. He does so in a manner that is informative, from a lessons learned perspective, and is real world and humorous. This is the business version of everything i needed to know I learned in kindergarten. It's practical, useful, and encouraging. -Jeff Gosline, Senior Director, Customer Development, DHL Supply Chain I've seen Robert's work up close through his participation in the Shared Services Leadership Coalition, including his insightful testimony on the value proposition of shared services to a subcommittee of the US House of Representatives. This book puts his distinctive leadership experience to work, helping other professionals move forward in their careers and in their life journeys. -John Marshall, Founder and CEO, Shared Services Leadership Coalition Robert worked for me for several years. His thoughts in this book on approaching leadership and overcoming obstacles in the workplace are a great fit for addressing the challenges that we face in organizations today. -Mike Rescoe, Board Member, Darling Ingredients, Inc. and Previous Board Member with Global Crossing and Global Power Equipment Group Robert and his team used a great approach to help my former organization grow to the next level. His knowledge has always left attendees with more information, as will the roadmap of ideas he is offering in the book. -Jules Miller, President & Executive Producer, Insight Council I worked with Robert as a client a couple of years ago and appreciate that he's put his ideas into a book for other professionals.
