OverviewScientific and literary representations of a knowledge of desire, sex and bodies are characterized by a coincidence of speech and silence. This monograph studies the forms and effects of this coincidence which is captured in the term (dis)articulation . It is not a question of absolute silence or continuous speech, but rather a dialectical combination of refraining from speaking and speaking, which through the intention to remain silent brings forth a specific form of speaking (dis)articulation as silence effect.
