Dynamics of Recidivism in Sexual and Violent Offending: Results of a Longitudinal Study

Overview

This volume seeks to understand and prevent recidivism among persons convicted of sex offenses. By comparing prison inmates convicted of sex offenses to other serious violent offenders, this work explores how multifaceted factors influence reoffending. It also examines the effectiveness of correctional treatment in reducing the risk of reoffending after a prison sentence due to a sex offence. Based on a quasi-experimental, multimethod longitudinal study of 400 inmates from Germany, including self-reported recidivism and interviews with released offenders, this volume will be of interest to researchers in criminology and criminal justice, forensic psychology, and sociology, as well as law enforcement and policy makers.
