OverviewLuigi Russolo (1885-1947) was a Futurist painter, musician, writer and inventor. He signed the manifesto The Art of Noise (March 11, 1913), which theorized on the use of noise to arrive at music composition, he is considered the first artist to have worked on the concept of noise music. He was a very special artist for Futurism. Luigi Russolo leaves an unfinished work The Dialogues between the Ego and the Soul published here for the first time. The text is magmatic but very illustrative of his thought, inspired by Eastern and Hermetic philosophy, on society, art, health of body and spirit. The editors of this critical edition of the work illustrate Russolo's linguistic and stylistic characteristics as a writer, his philosophical matrices, thematic recurrences and relationship to his entire oeuvre, including his pictorial and musical work, and to his activity as an inventor (especially of instruments dedicated to noise).
