"Devil's Fire is the story of one man's journey to save a nation. Felix Grundy Stidger, a young man from a small town in Kentucky, took on an impossible job. It was a mission he had little chance of surviving. The 1800s was a time when our nation was split and deeply divided. It was a time when brother was pitted against brother, father against son, and family against family. The Civil War took more than 800,000 souls deeply scarring our country. His conscience drove him to join the Union Army for the Kentucky 15th as a company clerk. He witnessed more death than any young man should ever see in the battles of Perryville, Stone River, and Chickamauga. After serving two years for the Union Army he received word that his mother was dying and he returned home to his small town of Taylorsville, Kentucky. After a midnight robbery by three Confederate guerillas which hastened his mother's death, something changed in him. He had nothing left to lose. He was resolved to take down the Confederacy and their secret society of terror. If he was ever discovered it would mean his life. He rejoined the Union as a spy for President Lincoln, infiltrating the secret society of the Confederacy, and rose to the top of the Order to take them down from within. This lead to the historical Trial for Treason of 1864. This is a story of espionage, secret societies, betrayal, and murder.
