OverviewStaphylococcus epidermidis is a Gram-positive bacterium, non-motile, non-spore-forming, arranged in grape-like clusters and one of over 40 species which belong to the genus Staphylococcus .These bacteria are usually normal flora in skin, also in gut and in the respiratory tract. S. epidermidis have the ability to produce the biofilm, which is an important trait among staphylococci; consequently they are once thought to be non-pathogenic is transformation to pathogenic these days.
