Overview

An Inner City Boy Shares His Hopes, Fears And Dreams; Through uplifting poetry and powerful illustrations, readers will be swept into the world of ten-year-old DeShawn. Set in the projects, ambulances and cop cars are a regular part of DeShawn's days, but so are neighbourhood barbecues and snowball fights. Based on the author's own experiences as a child, this powerful and inspiring verse shares with readers everything from DeShawn's deepest sadness to his most joyful hopes. With a dynamic central character, as well as illustrations that richly capture the emotion, humour and strength of the story, readers from all backgrounds will be charmed by this upbeat, compassionate and creative young boy.
