He went on to get his GED and rose to prominence as an Army Chaplain (even though he was an enlisted man) serving in Erlangen, Germany at The Gospel Hour Church (founded by Pastor Herman Smalls, Jr. deceased). While in the military, Pastor Hurst continued to mature and retired with a Doctorate of Divinty. He was a Licensed Counselor and a partner in his own counseling services. While in the U S Army he received two Purple Hearts and a plethora of Commendations, medals, and accolades! His home office 'Wall of Achievements' testifies of the depth of his roots. Fittingly, Psalm One is an accurate picture of this one man's life! Today, he lives in Lithonia, GA with his bride, Eleanor of over 55 years.
