Overview

A beautifully honest collection of essays cataloguing the trans woman's experience in the modern United States, as told through one trans woman's life. These essays discuss transition medicine, rising fascism, feminism, suicide rates and violence, and even a little bit of hope. This book doesn't shy away from sharing real stories and real analysis of the conditions we all find ourselves in. Subjects covered include the history of transition healthcare, violence statistics, the pay gap, genocide and its stages, how chairs create paradoxes (seriously!) and more. Fans of real transgender stories will appreciate the blood and tears poured into the creation of this book. In section 2, a few friends of the author share their own stories, in their own words.

Author Information

"A.D. Salisbury is a transfeminist, a proud transsexual woman who doesn't shy away from systemic analyses. In her journalism and advocacy work, she's been called ""a prolific writer"". By morning, she's working on her shift for job 1 or job 2, depending on the day of week. By day, A.D. is working on finishing her undergraduate education, a Bachelor's of Arts in both English and Gender and Women's Studies. By evening, she's writing books, poems, or articles- often all three at once. By night, she's doing her 3rd job. She lives in Colorado with her service dog. She has friends and family all over the country, most notably in Eastern Colorado, Utah, California, Virginia, and Idaho. She grew up (mostly) in Colorado, but was born in Idaho and lived in Utah for a few years. An internal refugee of the United States, she moved back to Colorado in 2022 to be with her then-girlfriend. A veteran of journalism and activism, her skills as an organizer and a writer were forged in the 2020 primaries and the political uprising of young people that followed. She hopes to continue writing for however long she lives."
