Overview

'Dear Boss' is the story of a young Irish construction worker named Paddy. Paddy is tasked with lugging a load of bricks down from the top of a 14 story building. Instead of slowly carrying down the bricks by hand, he devises a scheme to unload them all at once with a barrel and a pulley. But he is not strong enough to hold the barrel. The problem is he has already cut the rope. Now he must explain to his boss why he can't come to work due to all the injuries he incurs. This is a funny story with beautiful illustrations. Follow Paddy as he concocts a note for his boss about why he can't come to work.

Author Information

Father of 2 young girls, Irish heritage and has been singing 'Dear Boss' the Irish Folksong written by Pat Cooksey to each girl since they were born to help them fall asleep. It's become a favorite and we are overjoyed to see the story come to life with this beautiful illustration. Pat was born in Limerick in the west of Ireland in 1945 and spent his early years in the English cities of Liverpool and Coventry where his father worked as a coalminer. When he started singing and playing the guitar Pat spent two years travelling around Europe playing Beatles and Bob Dylan songs in the streets. His introduction to Irish Music came via the late great singer Luke Kelly of The Dubliners, whom he first met in Ewan McColl's singers club in London.
