Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationAfter a turbulent childhood Nicholas Owen started in journalism in 1964 on a local newspaper in Surrey, before moving to Fleet Street where he wrote for, among others, the Evening Standard, the Daily Telegraph and the Financial Times. He went to the BBC in Newcastle in 1981 before spending 17 years with ITN, where he anchored all its major bulletins. From 1994 to 2000 he was ITV's Royal Correspondent. He rejoined BBC News as a presenter in 2007. He has also appeared in many other TV and Radio programmes, hosts many corporate events, and is an after-dinner speaker. He has a close interest in transport matters, especially railways and light rail schemes, and has published a history of the British trolleybus as well as a booklet on the Brighton Belle when it was withdrawn in 1972. He tours in a light-hearted one-man show based on his long experience in the media. He is married to a journalist, and has four children and four grandchildren.
