Overview

The aim of this book is to present Denmark's new Arbitration Act - the Danish Arbitration Act 2005 - to an international audience. It takes the form of a commentary to the Danish Arbitration Act 2005. After an introduction, which explains the background and general nature of the Act, the book provides an English translation accompanied by comprehensive comments to each of the provisions of the Act. The book is aimed at lawyers and other persons with legal training, including arbitrator. Practioners and academic lawyers alike should also find the information provided useful. The Danish Arbitration Act 2005 is based on the 1985 UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration, and throughout the book the provisions of the Danish Act are compared to the corresponding provisions of the UNCITRAL Model Law. The author is a civil servant in the Danish Ministry of Justice and in that capacity he participated in the drafting of the Bill, which led to the adoption of the Danish Arbitration Act 2005.
