Overview

This special edition of Distracted Masses delves deep into the problems of police violence in America with a first-hand account of an attack by three plainclothes police officers on the creator of this magazine. After being assaulted, tasered, and dumped on the side of the road with no medical help, charges, or explanation of why he was attacked, the creator of Distracted Masses filed an official report with the Albuquerque Police Department but to his dismay found little to no help in tracking down and arresting the thugs who almost killed him. Inside you'll find a self-generated police sketch of the main suspect who is still at large and believed to still be employed by a U.S. or state government agency. Also inside, learn about the importance of memory, it's functions and processes, and how it affects who you are. Read book reviews on alien disinformation, probability, and hacktivism. Find colorful and unique products, poetry, and ponderings and find more suggested reading material right here in the third issue of Distracted Masses. Author Information

Distracted Masses is a character from the future manifested through the collective consciousness of those reading George Orwell's Nineteen-Eighty-Four. Neither male nor female, the fictional Distracted Masses character is an androgynous representation of those distracted people who have become mentally numb to the reality of the day. He/she/it/they is/are an individual(s) acting as an organization, a corporation, and unaffiliated groups of both the dead and undead. They are the future potential outcomes of the Citizen's United ruling which gives corporations the same rights as, and often even more rights than, actual human beings. These futuristic manifestations of the collective conscious have accumulated into a single entity which simultaneously live in the past, present, and future. Bordering between the real and the unreal, Distracted Masses lives within the internet on Facebook, Twitter, Newsvine, and other social media sites. The almost real, but mostly fictional character can be manifested by any observer capable of collapsing their own wave function. Simply turn, look, and see - they're all there. Right in front of you, clicking and tapping away on their little devices helping them to continuously stay forever distracted from reality. They are, we are, and I am the Distracted Masses.
