OverviewJust as ceramic mosaics are created by combining small, brightly coloured tiles, the wooden mosaics in this book are created by cutting, sanding, and staining pieces of wood according to the detailed instructions and shop-tested patterns provided. More than 30 country crafts feature themes such as home, hearth, farm life, and Pennsylvania Dutch living. Historical titbits accompanying each project explain the meaning of the colours and symbols used in mosaics. Color suggestions are included. The drawings are quite clear. Some designs contain many pieces. I picked out two of the designs to cut. I copied the patterns at the local library then picked out a nice piece of wood and started sawing. All I can say is patience, patience, and more patience. The projects were detailed but quite fun! The instructions at the beginning of the book are sparse and could be more informative. I would recommend this book for anyone who would enjoy these types of projects. Beginners could follow the designs as long as they are careful and patient.
