Author Information

Richard Sale has climbed and trekked all over the world. After university he worked as a glaciologist at Switzerland's Jungfraujoch. He pursued a career as a scientist before becoming a full-time writer and photographer. His previous books include Arctic Odyssey, an account of his travels in the high Arctic, On Top of the World, a history of the 8000m peaks, and To the Ends of the Earth, the history of Polar Exploration.
