Overview

When the size and the shape of materials are reduced to the nanoscale dimension, their physical and chemical properties can change dramatically. This book demonstrates the controlled size and shape of nanostructured materials and their applications. The applications cover photocatalysts, biomedicals, nanomaterials, fuel cells and supercapacitors, lithium-ion batteries, light-emitting diodes, and field emission display. This book may be the first to clearly point out the relationship between the size and the structure of the materials, which strongly affects their properties. Understanding these control parameters has important technological implications for energy conversion and storage, biotechnology, lighting and display, and so forth.

Reviews

This interesting book presents studies on controlled size and shape of nanostructured materials. With a clear introduction of the magical physical and chemical changes brought about by the nano version of materials, the author exemplifies many of their wide applications, including photocatalysts, biomedicals, nanomaterials, fuel cells and supercapacitors, lithium-ion batteries, light-emitting diodes, and field emission display. This is the right book for scientists and students who are looking for inspiration, perspectives, and the latest studies in this field. Prof. Hongjie Zhang - Chinese Academy of Sciences, China This book offers perspectives of controlled fabrication of nanostructured materials with an extensive collection of the most updated studies that encourage the use of nanostructured materials for a wide range of applications. Reading it certainly benefits readers understanding of the relationship between the structures and properties of nanomaterials and their new applications. An excellent reference for inspiring scientists and students. Dr. Qiang Xu - National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan This book represents an extensive collection of the most updated studies that cover tremendous nanosystems with controlled size and shape for a variety of applications such as energy conversion and storage, catalysis, biotechnology, lighting, and displays. The comprehensive perspectives will undoubtedly help gain deep insights into the relationship between the morphology (structure) and properties of functional nanomaterials, which remained nearly untouched. I believe such a timely and interesting text is invaluable and instructive, particularly for young scientists in this field. Prof. Xueyuan Chen - Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China This book offers readers some excellent resources of up-to-date knowledge on nanostructured materials
