OverviewExcerpt from Contributions to the Mineralogy of Victoria Having myself no laboratory at command, I am specially indebted to my friend Mr. Cosmo Newbery for his assistance in furnishing me with the chemical analyses of a number of the species described. For crystallographers I have drawn correct figures of some of our interesting crystal rarities, and given in the context accurate measurements of angles for the determination of the indices of the planes of some of the new crystals. As regards the arrangement of the species in the description, no system has been followed, except that of grouping together the native metals and metallic minerals - the hydrous and anhydrous oxides - the salts of special acids - gemstones - silicates sulphates, and carbonates.
