OverviewThis book forms part of the new Transport Law Series and provides the reader with an overall view of the liability regime, followed by a short history of the Warsaw Convention and the events leading up to the signature of the Montreal Convention. The first part of the book ends with a statement of the rules of interpretation applicable to conventions of uniform law, illustrated by decisions on the Warsaw Convention. The second and larger part of the book takes the form of a commentary on the text of the Warsaw Convention, as it is currently in force in the UK, together with the text of the Montreal Convention. The Warsaw Convention is a convention of uniform law which, almost inevitably, is the subject of divergent interpretation in different States. So, the book makes reference to decisions of the courts not only of the UK but also those of other common law countries, notably the USA, and also countries of civil law, notably France and Germany.
