Reviews

`By examining key films that tackle issues of contemporary violence, Sarah Barrow provides an excellent study of Peruvian cinema's responses to the Shining Path era of the 1990s and 2000s, bringing together sharp cinematic analysis and trauma studies.' - Jeffrey Middents, American University; author of Writing National Cinema: Film Journals and Film Culture in Peru (2009), `Contemporary Peruvian Cinema is an essential addition to the field of Latin American cinema. Meticulously researched, deeply knowledgeable and accessible, this comprehensive study provides incisive readings of landmark films and draws attention to undeservedly neglected ones.' - Deborah Shaw, University of Portsmouth

Meticulously researched, clearly organized, well-written study ... Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through faculty. * D. West, emeritus, University of Idaho, CHOICE *
