Overview

The renowned poet Pat Mora celebrates the culture and landscape of the Southwest through the eyes of a Mexican American girl. In this joyful and spirited collection, award-winning poet Pat Mora and fine artist Enrique 0. Sanchez celebrate the vivid landscape of the Southwest and the delightful rapport that children share with the natural world. Through language resounding with both English and Spanish, Confetti is also an anthem to the power of a child's imagination and pride: I say yo soy libre, I am free, free, free, free as confetti. Long-awaited by Ms. Mora's many fans, Confetti is a treasury to be shared with children everywhere.

Reviews

Narrative poems in free verse capture the rhythms and uniqueness of Southwest and its culture as seen through the eyes of a Mexican-American girl. The beauty of the natural world is captured in Sanchez's acrylic illustrations. A welcome addition. -- School Library Journal This collection of poems is as much fun to look at as it is to read. A good choice for choral reading or for reading aloud. -- Booklist Mora's poems reflect vividly the Mexican-American culture and life in the desert Southwest... Pat Mora can evoke the desert and its features and creatures better than any other poet. -- El Paso Herald-Post Children's Books Mean Business, Children's Book Council (CBC) Choices, Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC)
