Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationJim Crawford is the author of three books on fire prevention and community risk reduction, and a contributor to several more on those topics. He has been a nationally recognized speaker and authored numerous articles in this field since the early 1980s. He has 48 years of experience in the fire service, serving as fire marshal in Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA. Crawford led the team that created Vision 20/20 and served as its first project manager. He has served as a special consultant for the U.S. Fire Administration and adjunct faculty for the National Fire Academy. He has served on the Standards Council of the National Fire Protection Association and is a past chair and member emeritus of the National Fire Protection Association Professional Qualification Standard for Fire Marshals. He is a past president of the International Fire Marshals Association and a lifetime member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals, and the Washington Public Fire Educators. He is a Life Member Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers. He has received several national awards for his work in prevention including the R. Wayne Powell Excellence in Fire Prevention award from the U.S. Fire Administration; the Fire Protection Person of the Year award from the Society of Fire Protection Engineers; The Percy Bugby award from the International Fire Marshals Association; the Dr. Anne Phillips Award from the Congressional Fire Services Institute and the International Fire Service Training Association; and the Community Hero award from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Center for Injury Research and Policy.
