Serving children with mental illnesses and emotional challenges is always vexing given the number of distinct service systems that interact with these individuals and their families. Additionally, to be successful requires cooperation among these systems and the wide range of professionals involved in the life of the child. The power of this book lies in its practicality. Covered are the important tasks and functions of the core professional disciplines, the role of the key service providers and settings that shape the lives of children, all with an emphasis on the tasks necessary to create child and family centered services that work. -- W. Patrick Sullivan, Professor, Indiana University School of Social Work Drs. Petti and Salguero have provided a practical guide for providing services. They cover clinical, ethical, administrative, and other problems likely to emerge and how they can be prevented or surmounted. This is a superb contribution that takes community work to new heights and will palpably improve the lives of children, adolescents, and families. -- Alan E. Kazdin, Ph.D., Director, Child Study Center, Yale University School of Medicine, John M. Musser Professor of Psychology and Child Psychiatry, New Haven, Connecticut
