The majority of the illustrations are based on paraffin sections stained with hematoxylin and eosin, though other techniques eg using cryostat sections have been included. Most are concerned with cases dealt with in the course of routine hospital service. The book contains a chapter on each of the main systems or organs of the body. There is also an introductory chapter which aims to demonstrate the more important reactions of the tissues in disease and at the same time teach the student the basic language of histopathology.
