500 years ago we started talking about this mega project for America: The Colombia Interoceanic Canal in the most treasured corner of South America: El Chocó, Colombia. Five centuries later, the Canal has not been done, and instead, a humanitarian crisis has developed and continues to grow. Children suffer chronic malnutrition in this area, the highest maternal mortality rate in childbirth is reported and there is unemployment and poverty of 60%.The authors have embarked on seven years of research, compiling all existing references on the subject and proposing the plan to build the Canal.
