Overview

This book provides a scientific basis for development of targeted inhibitors and directional inhibitors of preventing spontaneous combustion of coal. This book applied solvent extraction assisted by ultrasonic into the study of coal spontaneous combustion and hence broken through the technical bottlenecks of existing studies for mechanisms of coal spontaneous combustion. Further, the theories of particles physics were firstly combined with theories of coal chemistry and finally explained some previous conjectures scientifically in this book. Thus, the theory of spontaneous combustion of coal has been greatly broadened and deepened. Moreover, a new theory named “Chain self-promoted oxidizing coal spontaneous combustion theory induced by active group” was proposed in this book. This theory elucidates the correlation mechanism between coal active groups and indicator gases, explaining the mechanism of indicator gas generation in coal spontaneous combustion and providing a theoretical basis for establishing an early warning indicator system for coal spontaneous combustion. This is very easy to be understood by audience with working in the field of mining or coal chemistry. Besides, principles of theories used in this book were explained in detail in this book. That is to say, there are almost no challenges or pain points for the audiences to overcome.

Author Information

Professor Jun Deng is a doctoral supervisor. He is serving as the President of Xi'an University of Science and Technology and both directors of Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Coal Fire Disaster Prevention & Control and Engineering Center of Western Coal Mine Safety of Ministry of Education. Also, he is the member of Safety Science and Engineering Discipline Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Yangtze River Scholar Professor, “National Ten Thousand People Plan” technological leading talent, winner of China Youth Science and Technology Award, National advanced worker (model worker), and foregoer for the innovation team of Ministry of Education. He enjoys special government subsidies of the State Council. He is mainly engaged in the research and application of coal fire science and control technologies, urban safety, and intelligent firefighting.    Dr. Yaqing Li’s research interests encompass various aspects of prevention and control of fire disasters and development of fire-fighting materials, with a focus on the applications of new techniques in control and prevention of hazards. She has contributed extensively to academia through the presiding 2 projects of the National Natural Science and 2 Natural Science Foundation projects of Shaanxi Province, publications of over 60 peer-reviewed academic papers, and authorization of over 10 national patents and 4 provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards within the scope of her aforementioned research interests.   Professor Saeid Zeinali Heris’s research interests are non-Newtonian flow and heat transfer, energy system, heat transfer enhancement, Tribology, and nanofluids. He has published1 book, 2 book chapters, and more than 250 articles in well-recognized journals and proceedings.  Chi-Min Shu (Taichung, Taiwan, 1958) is a distinguished chair professor at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (YunTech). He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1982) from Tunghai University (Taiwan) and an M.S. (1987) and Ph.D. (1990) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla (USA). Between 1990 and 1994, he worked as a process engineer at Bechtel Corporation in Houston, Texas. In 2003, he joined YunTech as a professor in the Department of Safety, Health, and Environmental Engineering, where he was promoted to a distinguished professor in 2011 and distinguished chair professor in 2016. He also served as an academic vice president of YunTech from 2017 to 2019 and is currently an assistant to the president.    Professor Chi-Min Shu has an extensive editorial portfolio in prominent scientific journals. He serves as a subject editor for Process Safety and Environmental Protection (PSEP, SCI, IF=6.9, Q1) since 2021. His associate editor roles include the Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry (JTAC, SCI, IF=3.0, Q2), Processes (SCI, IF=2.8, Q2), and Frontiers in Energy Research (SCI, IF=2.6, Q3). Additionally, he is an editorial board editor/member for Process Safety Progress (PSP, SCI, IF=1.0, Q4), Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries (JLPPI, SCI, IF=3.6, Q2), Thermochimica Acta (IF=3.1, Q2), and Journal of Safety Research (JSR, SSCI, IF=3.9, Q2). These positions span from 2009 to the present, demonstrating his long-standing commitment and expertise in the fields of process safety, thermal analysis, and industrial safety research.
