OverviewEnric Ruiz Geli's recent completion of Villa Nurbs in Girona, Spain marks the entry of an extremely unconventional house in a highly conventional setting. Surrounded by traditional looking homes, Villa Nurbs breaks not only with formal tradition, but also with programmatic, material, and structural norms. Conceived as one continous strip, the Villa is imagined as art, where the dwelling becomes a stage, the home a linear landscape of events, folded on the site in an ascending spiral. From the sunken garage to the roof garden and terrace, Villa Nurbs is a fluid space that pushes the boundaries of existing notions, yet remains intimately connected to the surrounding site, sky, and woods.
