OverviewTransport sector contributes to the global warming, and also gets affected by the extreme climatic events. Despite numerous global efforts, Asian policy makers are facing daunting challenge to streamline sustainable transport polices. The first part of this book presents the policy maker's perception of impacts of climate change on transport, and postulates adaptation strategies to develop and safeguard a resilient transport system. The second part reviews selected case studies of dry ports development in Asia from environmental perspective, and evaluates alternative locations of dry ports applying the method of AHP. Potential role of dry ports in influencing a freight modal shift to railways from road and resulting emission reduction is quantitatively assessed applying mode choice modeling. For the purpose of these analysis, a case of dry port development in Laos and freight transport along Laos-Thailand transport corridor is taken. Necessary data were generated through original survey of policy makers and freight forwarders. This book, a result of doctoral research, attempts to address the issues of adaptation and mitigation in the transport sector in an Asian context Full Product DetailsAuthor: Madan B RegmiPublisher: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing Imprint: LAP Lambert Academic Publishing Dimensions: Width: 15.20cm , Height: 1.50cm , Length: 22.90cm Weight: 0.386kg ISBN: 9783659115929ISBN 10: 3659115924 Pages: 260 Publication Date: 04 September 2012 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In stock We have confirmation that this item is in stock with the supplier.
