Overview""Claims to Lands in East and West Florida. Communicated to the House of Representatives February 22, 1825. ""Treasury Department, February 21, 1825. ""Sir: I have the honor to transmit a copy of a report from the commissioners of land claims in East Florida, dated January 1, 1824 (*Should be 1825). It shows the progress made by that board in performing the duties assigned to them by law, and contains other information which may be useful to Congress when legislating on the subject of the Florida lands. ""I have the honor also to transmit copies of two reports from the commissioners of land claims in West Florida, dated the 12th November and 20th January last. ""The papers which accompanied these several reports are voluminous. Copies of them are now in preparation, and shall be transmitted to Congress as soon as they are completed. ""I have the honor to be, with great respect, Sir, your obedient servant, ""William H. Crawford. ""Hon. the Speaker of the House of Representatives."" ""Commissioners' Office, Pensacola, November 12, 1824. ""Sir: In obedience to the several laws organizing the board of commissioners 'for ascertaining claims and titles to land within the district of West Florida, ' and regulating their duties, the undersigned have deemed it expedient to report, at this time, all claims of every description east of Pensacola, with a number of others in this vicinity, about which there is no difficulty or conflicting interest. The reasons for the adoption of this course are more fully explained in a letter to the honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives, upon their application for an extension of the term. We have the honor herewith to transmit - ""First. A general report upon Spanish claims. ""Second. A general report upon large claims. ""Third. A special report on claims undefined in quantity, and those exceeding 3500 acres comma with the opinions of the commissioners, numbered from 1 to 9. ""Fourth. Abstracts from A to H, containing the list of claims confirmed and rejected, with the reasons 'for their admission and rejection, ' together with the reports upon each class, respectively lettered, and made in conformity with laws above mentioned. All which is respectfully submitted. ""We have the honor to be, respectfully, your obedient servants, ""Samuel R. Overton. ""Joseph M. White. ""Craven P. Luckett. ""Hon. Wm. H.
