Overview

Using AI art as art therapy to help heal from narcissistic abuse, photographer Gregory Bell unleashed his mind onto the page with a collection of AI generated images reflecting his emotions and personal responses to narcissistic abuse. An off-the-beaten path photographer of sideshows, circuses, rodeos, burlesque, vintage entertainment, street life, and surfing, Bell turned to the creation of intimate AI art after his therapist suggested photographing images to express how narcissistic abuse was affecting him. Using AI art, imagination and his own emotions, Bell curated a series of images that gave him the perspective needed to understand his own trauma. It was an intimate catharsis that merged with his circus aesthetic sense to become a generative healing and reflective experience. Explore this strange menagerie of curious and heart-wrenching images and experience within it both a manifestation of pain and a voice of healing.

Author Information

Gregory Bell is an underground photographer who spent twelve years documenting humanity in its countercultures. Using only his word-of-mouth reputation, he gained intimate access into the worlds of sideshows, circuses, rodeos, burlesque, vintage entertainment, street life, and surfing. He was mentored by Bob Egington at Valencia College in Orlando and educated at Columbia College in Chicago, but is mostly a self-taught artist, currently exploring the field of AI art. He worked as a photographer at D'vox Magazine in the mid 90s and has been featured in The Chicago Tribune, Nuvo Indianapolis, Timeout Chicago, See Chicago Dance, Voyage Chicago, and Urban Matter, among others. This collection is the first of many upcoming works.
