Overview

CHRISTMAS GUITAR IN FINGERSTYLE is a collection of twenty-four of the most familiar, beautiful, and spiritual carols. Each is written in Newel Kimball's now-famous GuitarPerfect tablature notation for guitar. It is no only innovative, natural, and obvious, but best of all, it is simple, easy, and beautiful. With this easy method, virtually anyone with a love for Christmas music can play these songs on the guitar. Each note of the song has its own full-picture symbol for showing both hands how to play beautiful harmonic melody arpeggio fingerstyle music almost instantly! It is the unique style you hear from an orchestra, piano or harp, wherein each note of the melody is played as a chord of three, four, or more notes. The GuitarPerfect symbol makes it possible to play even the most complicated arpeggio finger-styles! The only requirement is having a guitar, and following the simple instructions in the EXPLANATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS section in the back of the book. Natural guitar chords make for easy playing. The easiest keys for playing harmonic melody on the guitar are A, D, and E. Each of the twenty-four carols have been written in one of these three keys (with the exception of one or two in the key of C), making the songs as easy as musically possible to play. An inexpensive capo can easily change the pitch of the song higher or lower if you need to accommodate a singers' voice range. The standard staff contains the melody line. However, the best part of this fingerstyle method is that both the melody and the harmony occur at the same time, on one guitar, played by one person. Accompaniment Chords are also provided for a second guitar or piano, or just to accompany a singer of a carol. The chord families of the most common keys found in most songs are provided in the EXPLANATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS section in the back of the book. Lighter strings will make your guitar easier to play. If the strings of your guitar are too heavy, you may want to change your steel strings to a set of nines (.009 in.), or light nylon strings just to make your guitar into an easy guitar. This one change makes a miraculous difference in your ability to play.
