Children of the Tithe

Overview

""Second Star to the right and straight on 'till morning'"", she had muttered, and the figure had laughed as its slender fingers enclosed her small hand and pulled her gently to her feet. ""Yes,"" it agreed. ""Come, little Wendy-Bird""... Heidi was always told that she had an old soul for her age, so when she awakes and finds herself and other children thrown into a world of enchantment and fear, she knows she needs to get home, no matter the consequences. Leading a group of young survivors through an unknown world of savage beauty, Heidi has to keep her head and figure out which of the strange creatures they encounter are friendly ... and which are dangerous. Some, she is going to learn, can be both.

Reviews

""One of the most frightening things I've ever read"" - Shelby Novak, 'Scare You to Sleep' podcast ""Carvill is a master of darkness"" ... ""As the debut novel for Carvill, I think she establishes herself as an upcoming force in literature; telling stories of intrigue, fear, and occasional triumph."" - Sam Pegg, 'The Edge' magazine

Author Information

Tracey M Carvill lives in a village just outside Rochester, UK (where all the Charles Dickens comes from). She lives with her black cat Siouxsie and her partner Jack, and is doing her best to be known as the village witch. Her biggest fan is her mum Mary, who is also her first editor and proofreader (thanks Mum!). She can often be found wandering Rochester High Street looking for ghosts or charity shop bargains, and she never misses the Sweeps Festival. If a building is said to be haunted, she's probably tried to spend the night there. Occasionally she goes into the forest and pretends to be a fairytale creature.
