Overview

Escaped slaves, presumed dead, 12-year-old Apollos and his younger sister, Claudia, fight for survival on the barren slopes of the Isle of Patmos. John, the last survivor of Jesus' 12 disciples, is exiled, at age 90, to the same island. They meet. Their adventures together lead to friendship. Can their courage survive shark attack, savage dogs, a ruthless captain overseeing and severely beating the exiles? Will the light of Jesus penetrate the darkness that Apollos considers normal? Will demons or angels win when their friendship goes through severe testing as Apollos' misunderstanding leads to revenge? Will Apollos' rage result in murder? Will John's love calm or intensify the storm in Apollos' soul? Will Claudia bring the two back together? And what role does the appearance of Jesus to give John The Revelation play?

Author Information

D. Wesley (a.k.a. Doug) Weeks created Grampa John, Apollos, Claudia and their friends and enemies to help imagine adventures of the saints in The Revelation. The author told the story in weekly installments to his Sunday School class back in 1978 and now has resurrected it for you. The author has been a pastor, counselor, teacher, writer and editor in the U. S., Philippines, Costa Rica and China, but perhaps his most rewarding work (or play) has been to enjoy his 15 grandchildren and (so far) three great-grandchildren. To them and you he gives this story, told as only a Grampa can.
