OverviewThe character of the child is so often present in works of fiction. Their often difficult condition makes them endearing characters, inspiring pity and piety, as well as deep reflection on their sometimes atypical journeys to understand the responsibilities of adults in the martyrdom experienced by these fragile beings, in their often heroic lives, even when they are crushed. This study looks at the different faces of the child in African literature, in particular those of the child torn between different cultures that destroy him/her, the orphan who seeks a path in the midst of the violence of an iniquitous world, and the mixed-race child, bearing the heavy burden of the mixed race of a society incapable of accepting the differences that build it, turning them into nothing more than a blemish that everyone refuses to recognize as part of everyone.
