Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationPierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was one of the leading painters of the Impressionist art movement in France. He created Impressionist depictions of real life, and later in his career, he focused on formal portraits and figure paintings. Renoir painted Child with Cat (Julie Manet) in 1887, during his Ingres period. His fellow Impressionists and close friends, Berthe and Eugène Morisot, commissioned him to paint this portrait of their young daughter, Julie. The painting resides at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
