Chase's mom, well aware of her role as the first teacher her child would know, devised a plan to ensure his early development of his academic skills. By age one, he was already reading simple words. His grandparents and uncle reinforced the groundwork of his parents through stories and flash card games. As a result, his reading skills were well above average for a child his age.

Mrs. Constance Harris Poitier, Ed. S., is a graduate of Chipley High School, Bethune-Cookman University, Florida Atlantic University, NOVA Southeastern University and Crossroads Bible Institute. She has worked in Palm Beach County (Constance DuPont), Hillsborough County as Director of Choirs at Ormond Beach Middle School. She is directing pianist for Greater New Zion P.B. Men's Choir and a frequent soloist and member of Crossroads Baptist, Daytona Beach. She is the wife of Mr. James Poitier (Associate Director of Bands and Arranger for Bethune-Cookman University Marching Band), mother of Carla DuPont Huger (Writer/Editor) and Dr. Carl DuPont, Jr. (Professor of Voice, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte). Constance is the proud grandmother of Chase Huger and Cameron Huger. Her many awards include several Who's Who categories and like awards. She is a Daytona Beach Hometown Hero, Walmart Teacher-of-the-Year and is associated with many organizations including but not limited to Volusia County Alumni, National Council of Negro Women, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Thomas Daniel Demps (TDD) Alumni Concert Chorale, Ebony Chorale of the Palm Beaches and Crossroads GriefShare Ministry. Constance Poitier, an accomplished Soprano was invited by Jacqueline Butler Hairston to sing the solo in a world premier of the composer's newest piece, which debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York City. In addition to being a National Board Certified Teacher and chairing several of Daytona Beach's Negro Spiritual Workshops, Constance is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association and the National Association of Negro Musicians. She maintains an active performing schedule as a singer, conductor and workshop clinician. Garrett resides in Albany, Georgia. He has been drawing since he was a little boy. He is gifted and talented and uses his gifts and talents to glorify God in all that he draws. He always reminds others that his drawings are creations from God, and his tools are His handiworks.
