Author Information

Charles Dowding has made no dig popular. His readers and viewers learn and appreciate how it's good for the soil, healthy for plants, and easier for them. In addition, his books and videos have many other timesaving ways to garden. His growing methods are as applicable for small areas as large ones, and are used by millions of gardeners, all over the world. Since 1982 he has created and cropped four no dig market gardens on different soils: stony, silt, and two types of clay. In the 1980s his garden covered 7.5 acres / 3ha of no dig beds. Currently, he grows vegetables on 0.25 acres/1000 square metres in Somerset, SW England, for local sales of salad leaves and vegetables. Most beds grow two crops a year. He has written ten books of which two are self-published, runs a YouTube channel, has created online gardening courses, writes for gardening magazines, and gives talks/courses online, at home and abroad.
