Przeprowadzono identyfikację molekularną i sekwencjonowanie genu 18S rRNA zebranych gąbek. Wyniki BLAST wykazaly obecnośc sekwencji Clathria reinwardti 18S rRNA z wynikiem 1770 i 92% identyczności z rodziną Microcionidae; 90% identyczności z Mycale fibrexilis. W związku z tym gąbki morskie z Rameshwaram (poludniowo-wschodnie wybrzeże Indii) wykazaly 4% (próbka 1) i 3% (próbka 2) rozbieżności w stosunku do Clathria reinwardti (Vosmaer, 1880).
