Overview

L'identification moléculaire et le séquençage du gène 18S rRNA ont été effectués à partir d'éponges collectées. Les résultats BLAST ont montré que la séquence actuelle du 18S rRNA de Clathria reinwardti avait un score de 1770 et était identique à 92% à celle de la famille Microcionidae; 90% d'identité avec Mycale fibrexilis. Ainsi, les éponges marines de Rameshwaram (côte sud-est de l'Inde) ont montré une divergence de 4% (échantillon 1) et 3% (échantillon 2) par rapport à Clathria reinwardti (Vosmaer, 1880).
