Beginner canner here: I'm literally shocked at how amazing this book is. I don't think I could recommend this book more. Recently I've been searching high and low on the internet for how to can this and that, and this book is just the perfect resource for us beginners. There are so many things you need to be aware of to not make yourself sick or let the food go bad, and this book came into my hands at the right time. Get this book for your pantry and start canning as food prices continue to surge. Lets be prepared for the future! - Kara Leigh Ann Must have for food preservation. I've been using a water bath canner for years, and there were tips that I never knew. The books are great at breaking down the pros and cons of each method and which food should be preserved in what manner. Great for the newbies and for the experienced. - Crystal Vranich Great reference for pressure and water bath canning. This is actually three books and the first is Pressure Canning Without the Danger. If you have been afraid to pressure can then this book explains everything you need to know about pressure canning. Even tells you where to get extra parts if needed and explains about the pressure canners themselves. Explains how to pressure can meat, vegetables and stock and what you can use the pressure canner for safely. Book 2 is The Essential Guide for Pressure Canning for Beginners . It explains everything you need to know on how to pressure can, the essential parts of the pressure canner itself and how to can foods. It has some great recipes and tells you how to prepare the food you will be canning. Book 3 is Water Bath Canning for Beginners and Beyond . I actually have this book and have used it a lot. I have made all the jams and jelly's so far and reference this book quite often. It has some great recipes and it is an excellent reference for canning.
