Overview

A best-selling introduction to Canadian political science, Canadian Democracy: An Introduction will continue to provide students with a comprehensive overview of Canadian politics and government as well as engage them with the critical question, What is the state of democracy in Canada? In this sixth edition, author Stephen Brooks covers the most recent events to shape the Canadian political scene, including the 2008 federal election and Throne Speech, and analyzes the current reporting that interprets our national political landscape, such as the 2006 Canadian Election Study, the 2006 Census, and the World Values Survey. Leaving no stone unturned, every chapter has been revised and updated, particularly material discussing Canadian political culture (values and institutions), parties and elections, language politics, diversity, Aboriginal politics, and Canada on the world stage.
