Overview

Is it possible some religious leaders have ""lost touch"" with members of the churches or ministries they serve in efforts to achieve church growth or organizational success? Are religious leaders more apt to engage in codependent behavior as there is a strong desire to please others and a need to be accepted? Interestingly, the author of this book discovered leaders who continuously shared their values and beliefs with followers are less likely to engage in codependent behavior or bad leadership practices.Dr. Boyd's second book, Can You Hear Me Now: How Active Listening and Continuous Articulation of Core Values Can Improve Leadership Effectiveness in Any Organization, Even the Church, is for anyone desirous of improving leadership effectiveness and inspiring active followership in for-profit or not-for-profit organizations. Written with church leadership at heart, the principles in this book are a must-read for any ""religious leader"" (minister, pastor, priest, bishop, overseer, prelate, church officer, board member) or anyone else involved with leadership development and serious about providing the best service to its attendees, congregants, customers, or members.

Author Information

The Most Reverend Dr. Will Boyd is a husband, father, educator, mechanical engineer, public servant, and consecrated Metropolitan Archbishop. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior on May 4, 1986 and accepted his ""call to preach"" on Valentine's Day of 1991. Boyd matriculated through the Darlington County School District in South Carolina. He later completed studies at The University of South Carolina where he earned a B.S. in Engineering. He went on to earn an M.B.A., a Ph.D. in Religion and a Ph.D. in Organization and Management from other institutions of higher learning. He has since been awarded an Honorary D.D. (Doctorate of Divinity) and an Honorary D.Sc. (Doctor of Science in Christian Counseling). Following more than a decade of manufacturing and engineering work in the United States and The People's Republic of China, Boyd founded Zion Ministries in 2001 and planted his first church-Mt. Zion Temple of Deliverance and Praise in 2003. He was later elevated to the office of bishop. Boyd taught business management at Greenville College where he last held the titles Dean of Student Success and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Management. He now serves as a Board of Regents Member and Vice-President of Student Affairs and Institutional Advancement for St. James the Elder Theological Seminary. Boyd's community involvement led to his historic election to public office in 2009 as he became the first African American elected to City Council in Greenville, Illinois. Not long thereafter, he and his U.S. Senate campaign team collected more than 25,000 Illinois signatures for his name to appear on the ballot as an Independent for the Illinois U.S. Senate seat last held by President Obama. Boyd is the Presiding Prelate and Chief Servant of Zion Ministries. In this capacity, he serves as the ""spiritual covering"" to thousands of ministers, pastors, bishops, and organizational leaders in eighteen different countries. Zion Ministries was founded in 2001 for the purpose of providing support to ministry leaders committed to spreading God's Word around the world. The Most Reverend Dr. Will Boyd, his wife, and their children reside in Florence, Alabama.
