Overview

Campo Verano is a series reinterpreting the photographic portraits affixed to grave markers in Campo Verano, the largest cemetery in Rome. This series of portraits is a continuation of Torben Eskerod's earlier artistic works. In his portraits he attempts to work with stringency, minimalism, and precision in order to cut out unnecessary and confusing elements. Torben Eskerod lives in Copenhagen. He has shown his work at many international venues, among them the the National Portrait Gallery, London; the Northern Light Gallery, San Francisco; the Yossi Milo Gallery, New York; the Houston Fotofest; and the Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery, Dallas.

"Torben Eskerod: (born 1960) lives and works in Copenhagen. Eskerod has shown his work at many international venues, among them the the National Portrait Gallery, London; the Northern Light Gallery, San Francisco; the Yossi Milo Gallery, New York; the Houston Fotofest; the Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery, Dallas. He is represented in international collections like the Museum of Fine Art, Houston, Texas; the William M. Hunt Collection, New York; the National Portrait Gallery, London Stephen Jay Greenblatt: (born 1943 in Boston ) is a literary critic, theorist and scholar. He is regarded by many as one of the founders of New Historicism, a set of critical practices that he often refers to as ""cultural poetics""; his works have been influential since the early 1980s when he introduced the term. Greenblatt has written and edited numerous books and articles relevant to new historicism, the study of culture, Renaissance studies and Shakespeare studies and is considered to be an expert in these fields. His most popular work is Will in the World, a biography of Shakespeare that was on the New York Times Best Seller list for nine weeks."
