Overview

"The Museum of Democracy proudly presents this fully updated 2024 version of the 2008 book: Campaigning for President, by Jordan M. Wright. An avid collector, growing his presidential campaign memorabilia into ""the nation's finest private collection"" was Jordan's passion for nearly 40 years. Following the release of the original book, Jordan passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50. The Museum of Democracy was created to ensure his legacy lived on through traveling exhibitions and a permanent display at Long Island University's Post campus. New York Times best-selling author Mark Bego was brought in to create this new edition of Campaigning for President, which includes the original version with the addition of five new presidential cycles, from 2008 to 2024, to reflect the present political landscape. Honoring the intent of the prestigious collection, the new, fully illustrated section highlights the five most recent presidential campaigns with the same vigor and enthusiasm as Wright's original creation. This book is spearheaded by Pamala Wright, whose late husband, Jordan M. Wright, created the original collection it salutes. Jordan's legacy is further enhanced in the version with contributions from his son Austin C. Wright, who serves as Chairman of The Board of The Museum of Democracy, and his daughter, Mackenzie Wright Brumberg."

Author Information

"Lawyer and magazine publisher Jordan M. Wright began collecting memorabilia at the age of 10. In his life, he amassed a collection of more than a million objects. His goal was to create a permanent exhibit called the Museum of Democracy. When the original core of this book was published in 2008, it became the first public view of this collection. He suddenly passed away at age 50 and left his collection and his dreams of a museum to his family. He would be happy to know that the Museum of Democracy is now a reality at Long Island University in New York. In addition to the permanent exhibit, there is also a touring display of the collection, which makes guest appearances in museums and universities across the United States. Although he is not here to witness it, these exhibits and this new updated version of his book are here to keep Wright's dream and his collection alive. Austin C. Wright is the son of Jordan M. Wright and serves as the Chairman of the Museum of Democracy. In this capacity, he has been able to share Jordan's collection with the world through the Museum and its national exhibitions. As Wright continues to grow his father's collection, his emphasis is on ensuring it remains accessible to all, particularly the younger generations, to educate them about freedom and democracy and inspire them to engage in the political process. In addition to being Chairman, Wright is a strategic advisor, business consultant, fundraiser, and investor. He is an avid supporter of various non-profit organizations, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Israel Museum, Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, the American Federation for Children, and Alice Cooper's Solid Rock, among others. He and his wife, Madison, divide their time between New York City and Paradise Valley, Arizona. Mark Bego is the author of 68 books on rock & roll and show business, including two ""New York Times"" Best-Sellers, a ""Los Angeles Times"" Best-Seller, and a ""Chicago Tribune"" Best-Seller, a Nashville ""Tennessean"" Best-Seller, three multi-million-sellers, and two half-million selling titles. With over 12 million books in print, he is acknowledged as the best-selling biographer in the rock and pop music field. His biographies have included the life stories of some of the biggest stars of ROCK (Elton John, Billy Joel, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bonnie Raitt, The Doobie Brothers, Three Dog Night), SOUL (Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston), POP (Sonny & Cher, The Monkees, Sade, Barry Manilow), and COUNTRY (Glen Campbell, George Strait, Patsy Cline, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill). He has also written about film and television stars as well (Rock Hudson, Julia Roberts, Linda Gray, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, Matt Damon, The Marx Brothers)."
