Reviews

From leafy snacks to snug cocoons to unfurled wings, delicate watercolorlike textures reveal how caterpillars metamorphose before happily taking flight as monarch butterflies. Along with Wildflowers Grow, this series captures quietly remarkable moments in nature in gentle, short rhymes with carefully selected verbs winding through soft, expansive compositions. VERDICT Children are never too young for the fascinating details surrounding the monarch. This is a perfect addition to the natural science shelves. - School Library Journal

Author Information

Amber Hendricks grew up with a passion for reading that melded into writing, and by age 11 she was writing and binding her own “books.” Amber has worn many hats in her career, but she has always circled back to her first love of telling stories, including Extraordinary Ordinary Ella for Amicus Ink. Amber currently resides in the United States with her husband and two children. Gavin Scott was fascinated by the natural world from an early age and spent much of his childhood drawing and painting animals and birds. He later studied BA Natural History Illustration at Bournemouth Arts University. His style gradually evolved from scientific into children’s picture books. He now lives in Somerset, England, with his wife and their growing family.
