Although born in Germany, to Scottish parents, Kirstie George has spent all her life in Kent in south-east England. As a child and teenager she was keen to emulate her marathon-running father, taking part in fun runs and competing for her school, Invicta Girls Grammar, at hockey. As a youngster Kirstie also took part, along with 15,000 others aged five to eighty-five, in the Sunday Times National Fun Run in Hyde Park in London. More recently, before giving up running to concentrate on gym and general fitness, she completed six 'tough mudders' and a half marathon. On a family holiday this year to the Lake District in north-west England, her father - still fit and active in his eighth decade - watched in admiration as she rose early for her morning walk, joined the family for a communal breakfast, climbed Helvellyn, England's third highest mountain, with husband and nine-year-old daughter, then managed a short gym session before consuming a fillet steak (no fries!) at a restaurant in Keswick, to celebrate the birthday of her younger brother. After over a decade working in retail, the birth of her second child - a traumatic and life-changing experience - provided the trigger for a career move into the world of fitness. Since setting herself up as a personal trainer four years ago, Kirstie George has established a very successful business model, specialising in online supervision and coaching. Her new book, Build Habits for Women, will provide inspiration and motivation to any woman seeking change through fitness and healthy living.
