"""Toddler-PreS-This is a charming book. It's ""inspired by"" the Bill Martin/Eric Carle original, and the art is from the ""World of Eric Carle"" collection, but there is no actual author or illustrator. The iconic Brown Bear is in the forest and exploring the alphabet. First he finds things to eat that start with the letters from A through H, and then finds friends to play with that have names starting with the letters I through P. After ""porcupines prickling"" the remaining letters are devoted to sounds of the forest. The alphabet gets a very clever wind-up as a tired Brown Bear lumbers along: ""Uh-oh getting tired, very tired, wobble, wobble, extra sleepy, yawn, zzzzz."" VERDICT Perfect preschooler fare, with a place in most children's collections."" -John Scott via School Library Journal"
